Call on me in the day of distress

Thursday of Week 33 – 1 Macc 2:15-29; Luke 19:41-44

In the places where I feel pain, emptiness, and lack – when helplessness settles in and I finally see how limited I am – that is where I open myself to God. He invites me into a living relationship with Him. In this space, He longs to give, to meet me, and to answer my cry.

“The Lord says: ‘Call on me in the day of distress. I will deliver you and you shall honour me” (cf. Psalm 50:15). How vital that second part is: to be faithful in worship, even when life is hard. God is good all the time, whatever my circumstances.

Lord, help me to look at my life in the light of eternity and the lasting effects of my choices. By Your Holy Spirit, teach me to use my freedom wisely and well. Amen.
