Sunday of Week 5 – Reflection – Is 58:7-10; Ps 111:4-9; 1 Cor 2:1-5; Matthew 5:13-16
. . . your light rise in the darkness and your gloom be as the noonday. (Is 58:10b)
Not everyone embraced Jesus’ message of love, for some, the light He offered revealed truths they were unwilling to confront. While many were inspired to follow Him, transforming their lives and committing themselves, others sought to undermine Him, looking for faults in His words and actions. Yet, He remained undeterred, steadfast in His commitment to truth rather than popularity. Jesus lived out His message authentically, shining as a light that cannot be extinguished.
Today, He beckons us to imitate Him. Our witness of faith need not rely on eloquence or grand philosophies; it can simply reflect what God has promised. It’s vital to remember that our faith isn’t measured by visible outcomes or recognition. True testimony may even call for courage, leading us to face rejection or ridicule.
This genuine witness arises from a love that seeks no reward. Admittedly, I often grapple with my own inadequacies and find my faith lacking. But these struggles should not deter me! Each day offers fresh opportunities to strive for love, to lay my shortcomings before God and invite Him into my daily life.
As we open our hearts to His transformative power, we trust that He will cleanse the imperfections within us. Let us remember, as Saint Paul reminds us, that our faith should rest not on human wisdom but on the extraordinary strength of God. Embrace the journey with joy, knowing that every effort to love is a step towards becoming a brighter reflection of His light.
