Tuesday of Week 13 – Amos 3:1-8. 4:11-12; Matthew 8:23-27

Not just a calmed storm. The sunset over a hidden forest loch. The mist like a theatre curtain, sometimes revealing and sometimes covering the mountain passes. A wagtail gliding around the nest for the first time. A three-year-old child, like an echo, repeating after the preacher ‘Jesus is Lord’. How many times is the breath held and the mind has asked Who He is . . .

Not just a calmed storm. The Spirit of God hovering over the baptismal waters, making him immersed in it the most beautiful of human sons. The power of holy oil to transform mortal and sinner into priest, prophet and king. Omnipotence and Omnipresence like atomic energy condensed in a crumb of Bread. How many times do the eyes wander around the holy signs and the mind asks Who He is . . .

A question with only one answer . . . Amazement . . .
