14th Sunday – Ez 2:2-5; 2 Cor 12:7-10; Mark 6:1-6

So I shall be very happy to make my weaknesses my special boast so that the power of Christ may stay over me. 2 Corinthians 12:9

By becoming man, God took on a weak and limited body. It did this to be as close to its creation as possible. He was born in a poor stable and grew up in a carpenter’s humble home, which is why it was difficult for those who knew Him to believe that He was God. They hurt Him with their disbelief. They doubted Him, hence He could not perform any miracle.

I am not much different from the people of Nazareth. I have known Jesus since I was a child. I’ve experienced a lot with Him. I try to have daily contact, I declare my devotion and love to Him. Only that I am looking for my own fulfilment, self-satisfaction and delight, a sense of perfection, rather than a real, close relationship with Him. I don’t leave any room for God because I still have too much desire for greatness.

If I am convinced that I am strong and can cope on my own, then God may turn out to be unnecessary to me. However, when I see weaknesses in myself and realize that I cannot cope with them on my own, when I feel helpless, only then will I allow God to act. For power is made perfect in weakness.
