Friday of Week 13– Amos 8:4-6.9-12; Ps 118:2,10,20,30,40; Matthew 9:9-13
It seems miserable. When it comes to the crunch, there’s not much we can do. Our declarations turn out to be empty, hands weak, circumstances do not make things any easier. We are sinners, that’s why.
We are sinners, which is why God has promised healing and grace just for us. It isn’t others He calls, it’s us.
The healed – will they be “seeking him with all their hearts”? Do our souls “long for your decrees”? Will we “long for your precepts”. If we come to Him with our sins, if we listen to His call – our return to health begins. So now – convalescents – living on the words of God like bread.
Our hearts are cold; Lord, warm them with Your selfless love. Our hearts are sinful; cleanse them with Your precious blood. Our hearts are weak; strengthen them with Your joyous Spirit. Our hearts are empty; fill them with Your divine presence. Lord Jesus, our hearts are Yours; possess them always and only for Yourself.”
