David’s Solution

February 4, 2026

Wednesday of Week 4 – 2 Samuel 24:2,8-17; Mark 6:1-6

It’s easy to believe that sin is a private matter, that evil is simply a personal choice—what concern is it of anyone else? This sense of control often masks deep disappointment in ourselves and a reluctance to change. We can feel trapped in our own weakness for days, months, even years, as if no solution exists. We slowly abandon good intentions, distance ourselves from people who are a little too noble, and avoid environments that are too transparent. It seems easier to find excuses or justifications. Yet this private sin, this fiercely defended “right” to choose, ultimately offers no help—we remain alone, weak, sorrowful, and distrustful.

Confessing our wrongdoing opens the door to God’s mercy. Are we willing to surrender ourselves into God’s hands, like the repentant David?

Jesus, I come to You from my doubt, seeking a faith that grows stronger and more passionate. You alone grant this gift; all I must do is accept it, and it will flourish.
