Saturday of Week 32 – Wisdom 18:14-16,19:6-9; Luke 18:1-8
Sometimes your strength runs out. Sometimes it’s painful and awkward to carry the weight of life. And Jesus says: ‘Don’t give up.’
Sometimes doubt creeps in and you wonder if any of it even matters. Sometimes the lack of visible fruit feels crushing. And Jesus says: ‘Don’t give up.’
Sometimes the Father’s silence feels like the heaviest burden – like in Gethsemane and on the Cross, when even the Son carried the darkness. Yet even there He whispers: ‘Don’t give up.’
To keep going, we need to remember. Keep calling to mind the wonders the Lord has done – not only in your own life, but in the lives of others, in Moses, and in the Chosen People. Through baptism you belong to that People now. Their story is your story. The whole heritage of memory – the marvellous deeds God worked in Israel – belongs to you as a son or daughter in Christ.
This remembering, this grateful memory – thanksgiving – is what keeps faith, hope, and love from running dry.
Come, Holy Spirit, brighten my mind and warm my heart, so I never forget the great things God does for those who love Him and place all their hope in Him. Amen.
