Monday of Week 17 – Jeremiah 13:1-11; Deuteronomy 32:18-21; John 11:19-27

“Lord, behold, the one you love is sick.” – how much hope for saving a brother is in these words. Help does not come. How easy it is to accept that the experience of love was not actually true, how easy it is to accept that if you had not been indifferent. . . “my brother would not have died.” – says Martha. And when asked, she confirms: “I still believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God.” I believe, although I do not understand you being absence. I believe despite suffering. I believe in the Person, although I no longer have hope for a change in the state of affairs. You did not come. And yet I trust in you. . . This is a very difficult faith. And Jesus does not excuse himself, does not explain, although He sees that the woman does not understand His words. He accepts her effort of faith. And performs a miracle that she no longer relied on.

Lord, help me to trust in you like Martha. . .
