17th Sunday Ordinary Time – 2 Kings 4:42-44; Ps 144:10-11, 15-18; Eph 1:4-6; Jn 6:1-15

What will happen to me? How will I cope? Will I manage to keep/get a job? Can I make ends meet in retirement? It’s hard to consider foresight as a mistake and to live only in the here and now, because somehow “it’ll be alright”. But will my foresight protect me from all the bad surprises?

In today’s Gospel I find a massive load of hope. Humanly speaking, I may fail. I may go to the wall. Jesus can do anything. He, who fed a great crowd with five loaves and two fish, can take care of my needs more or less spectacularly.

Jesus, you take care of it.
