Tuesday of Week 34 – Apoc 14:14-19; Ps 95:10-15; Luke 21:5-11

It is difficult to accept without fear the truth about your own and other people’s mortality, about the fact that everything I know and love passes, ends. It has its end.

Jesus knows perfectly well this basic human fear, additionally tinged with fear of some unusual types of suffering. Therefore, in answer to the question of when the end will come, how to recognise the beginning of the end, Jesus talks about not being guided in life by fear, worries, but to remain faithful to Him.

Jesus knows that others will prey on other people’s fear, impersonating Him, proposing easy solutions and giving various tips on how to reduce human fear.

However, it cannot be reduced in any other way than by trusting in God. Only He can reduce my every fear and anxiety for myself, for my loved ones.

However, I must constantly make a new effort to remain faithful to the Lord during “wars and revolutions . . . great earthquakes and plagues and famines,” that is, during every difficult and dangerous situation in which I find myself.

Faithfulness to God bears fruit in life – forever..

Lord Jesus Christ, may Your promise be fulfilled and calm my troubled heart. You live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
