Monday of Week 22 – 1 Cor 2:1-5; Ps 119; Luke 4:16-30

“The spirit of the Lord has been given to me, for he has anointed me.” (Luke 4:18).

In Jesus we find God’s omnipotence – divine strength, power, the ability to accomplish the work of salvation. These signs were already announced by the prophet Jeremiah, who also pointed to Jesus’ specific mission. Its visible signs are: goodness, mercy and forgiveness. Jesus awakens faith, announces the end of the times of waiting and promises – with His coming the time of salvation begins.

It is not easy to accept the Person of Jesus and His mission. The reason? Habits, marked paths, closure to the action of the Holy Spirit – the Lord and Giver of Life. It often happens that the human heart resembles the synagogue in Nazareth – it hears the word but does not accept it. And that is why it is filled with anger, and even removes the inconvenient Jesus, whose mentality does not fit into the perverse world, who does not flatter the claqueurs and does not promise easy, immediate solutions.

In order not to succumb to the spirit of emotional “instant loans”, I still need the power of the Spirit.
