Feast of Saint Stephen, protomartyr – Acts 6:8-10,7:54-59; Matthew 10:17–22

Yesterday, did you open the door of your heart to the Infant Jesus? If you stand firm in that choice, do not be surprised when unexpected difficulties arise along the way. Welcoming this tiny Child, the Son of God, transforms your life, filling your heart with a peace that the world cannot provide. However, it can also invite scorn from those who do not understand.

Our Lord forewarns His followers: “Beware of men: they will hand you over to Sanhedrins and scourge you in their synagogues.” They put Stephen to death, and many more after him. Is it any wonder that, even today, people may mock us or dismiss us as old-fashioned – out of touch? Take heart, for you walk with His radiant light to guide you. May you continue to embrace the Christ Child with courage and love, trusting that His presence will lead you to a peace beyond all worldly measures.

Lord Jesus, Light of the world, when we are mocked or dismissed, keep us steadfast. As Stephen bore witness, grant us courage to embrace You, O Christ Child, with love. Deliver us from fear; guide us by Your radiant light. May Your presence lead us to the peace the world cannot give, that we may forgive, endure, and rejoice in Your name. Amen.
