Fifth Thursday of Eastertide – Acts 15: 7-21; Ps 96:1-3,10; John 15:9-11

O sing a new song to the Lord, (. . .) Proclaim his help day by day, tell among the nations his glory and his wonders among all the peoples.

Certainty and calm. The world created by God rests on sure foundations. Everything is in its place. He Himself is justice and He Himself is mercy.

The world created by God . . . The world we live in seems to shake on its foundations. It increasingly stands on its head. Increasingly pathology becomes the norm. On the earth capable of sustaining everyone, people are dying of famine. Everyday people are lost in fratricidal wars. Where is the kingdom? Where is mercy? Where is the justice?

Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my own joy may be in you and your joy be complete.

We can live in joy. Full of joy. God can be King now. At anytime. In my heart. It’s sufficient for everyone to make such a decision in their heart and live by it. And our world will stop shaking. And instead of disasters we will be able to proclaim His wonders among peoples.

Lord Jesus Christ, let wonders be done in our smallness. Let great love fill our everyday life. You who live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.
