Week 26 Friday – Job 38:1,12-21,40:3-5; Ps 138:1-3,7-10,13-14; Luke 10:13-16

Harden not your hearts today,
but listen to the voice of the Lord. [cf. Ps 95 (94), 8a. 7d].

It is not easy to listen in the daily rush, the flood of information. It is difficult to hear something when the discussants shout over and outdo each other in sin, stupidity and pride.

Jesus condemns the blindness and pride of the inhabitants of Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum, who did not convert, despite the miracles happening there. They wanted to listen to themselves, not to Him. Listening is the first step. The next step is accepting and fulfilling the word heard.

Today, too, it is important to listen to God’s teaching. It is not only relevant, but also life-giving. However, it is also becoming inconvenient for many, especially in relation to the specific requirements that are set, which in turn require one to demand of oneself.
