Monday of Week 34 – Apoc 14:1-5; Ps 24; Luke 21:1-4

‘I tell you truly, this poor widow has put in more than any of them’. Luke 21

The widow from the Gospel shows us that generosity does not depend on the size of the gift, but on the intention with which we give it. It is worth considering what we really give to God and our neighbours – not only in the material sense, but also in the time, attention, support or the prayer devoted. We are often afraid to “lose” something that seems indispensable to us. And Jesus encourages us to trust Him and share with others, even when we ourselves have little.

The widow’s mite teaches us that true sacrifice is not about quantity, but about the love and faith that stand behind it. The value of a gift is measured by the heart, not its material size. Such a dedication requires courage, because it involves complete trust in God. Are we able to share what we have without fear and calculation?

Lord Jesus, the most pleasing offering to You is a good, contrite, converted heart. I wish to make such a offering to You from what I have and what I am able to now. Accept this sacrifice with love. Amen.
