Easter Day – John 20:1-9
The fast You chose, we have kept it – you know this. We have broken the chains of evil and torn apart the bonds of captivity. Look upon us.
The wounds in Your hands and feet are like the wounds we ourselves have carried – out of love, because we would not turn away from our own people. And now we are meant to celebrate among them: among those who do not understand that something unheard of has happened, among the defeated and the weak, among those who rejoice, but not in Your name.
That is why we need Your resurrection. Not only because we shall die, but because those we love are dying too. Because their joy fades and proves empty and fleeting. Because some things should never happen, yet they happen every day.
We remember all Your promises. We are here. We open our mouths. We stretch out our hands.
We believe.
