Friday of Week 5 – 1 Kings 11:29-32,12:19; Mark 7:31-37
“No good deed goes unpunished!” – I often find myself repeating this saying, a reminder that sometimes, doing the right thing can feel frustratingly thankless. How many times have we wondered whether honesty, kindness, or a brave act of goodness is truly worth the effort?
Yet, even as Jesus faced judgement for His good works, asking, “For which of these are you stoning Me?” (John 10:32), He remained steadfast in His mission. His honesty and compassion didn’t win Him immediate approval, yet they transformed hearts and affirmed divine love. When He withdrew to the Jordan, knowing the trials ahead, we see a profound testament to the strength of faith.
In a world that often demands instant gratification, we might feel disheartened. Can we endure suffering, resist the lure of revenge, and choose forgiveness? The prophet Isaiah reminds us, “When he makes himself an offering… he shall see the fruit of the travail of his soul and be satisfied” (Isaiah 53:10-11). This promise encourages us to trust that God can bring beauty from our struggles.
So, do you believe in a God who never abandons you? Embrace your small acts of goodness, for they echo in eternity, cultivating miracles we may never see.
