Thursday of Week 22 – 1 Cor 3:18-23; Ps 23:1-6; Luke 5:1-11

Because the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God.

God gave us reason in order for us to use it wisely. Thanks to it we can distinguish good from evil, learn the truth about ourselves, deepen religious knowledge and so faith. However, overestimating its importance can lead to an over dependence on it to the exclusion of its Giver – God.

In using God’s gift, God has to be given priority. These days, people treat their reason as though it were a god. Yet, the driving force is in grace and not in being a support. Discerning the truth about ourselves we use our and God’s wisdom. We must remember to do this always in the presence of God and for His sake.

Lord, Your word is a torch for my feet and a light for my path. I have vowed and decided to keep Your just decrees. You are my help and my shield; therefore I trust in Your word.
