Tuesday of Week 32 – Wisdom 2:23-3:9; Luke 17-7-10
We are merely servants: we have done no more than our duty.
The servant has in mind the good of the one he serves. After working in the field, he must still serve his master before he can eat a meal and relax and in addition, he may not hear the words ‘thank you’ from his master. Jesus compares our lives to service.
We received various talents and gifts from God, we also use them for others. Thanks to them, we can support the needy, devote ourselves to them. However, without humility we will only feed our own pride. And our help, and advice will not be a service, it will be building self-satisfaction.
Are we ready for our lives to be a real service? How do we react to a lack of gratitude for our help? Can we forget about ourselves to devote ourselves to others? Can we afford selfless service? God gave to us freely, can we afford to give it to others for free?
