Week 29 Wednesday – Eph 3:2-12; Is 12; Luke 12:39-48

Sometimes we hear or even say silently to ourselves: there’s nothing free in this world; no one gives anything for nothing; anything I have I’ve had to work for. Sometimes, seeing the benevolence of the great of this world we quietly imagine what we would do in their place, how to share the bounty – in other words, how good it would be to have and to be able to share as a lord and master.

However, that’s how it is, that we have a fund at our disposal. We have immense riches at our disposal. We can be as generous as we want and be happy about it. The words: “When a man has had a great deal given him, a great deal will be demanded of him”, let’s not just understand it as warning and caution. Let’s learn to find joy in the fact that we have received an infinite amount. That in giving, we are ourselves are not depriving ourselves of anything. Being generous doesn’t mean that we will run out of God.

Lord Jesus Christ, don’t ever let me think that God is limited in my life nor that You are delaying your arrival, lest I be surprised by your coming. You live and reign for ever and ever. Amen.
