Fifth Monday of Eastertide – Acts 14:5-18; Ps 115; John 14:21-26
The Holy Spirit . . . . will teach you everything and remind you of all I have said to you.
Jesus is full of concern for His disciples. Not to leave them without help He promised the Advocate who will continue through the Church His saving work. He will not only spur on the spreading of the Gospel of salvation but help in understanding the content of the Good News. The Holy Spirit will speak to the disciples gazing into the Son of God and getting to His love.
The Spirit of God, although invisible, is continuously efficacious. He enables the invigoration of the message of the Risen One. And in His light gives new meaning to everyday life and the faith of His disciples. The relay of the Holy Spirit, whom the Father sent in the name of His Son, continues. And each of us is invited to have a share in it.
You, Lord, have given us a new commandment: to love our neighbour in imitation of the love with which you loved each of us. Help me to fulfil your testament so that God may be glorified.
