Feast of Saints Cyril, monk, and Methodius, Bishop – Acts 13:46-49; Luke 10:1-9

It made the pagans very happy to hear this and they thanked the Lord for his message (Acts 13).

Saints Paul and Barnabas, who preaching the Word of God to the Jews met with rejection and opposition, directed it to the pagans. They didn’t try in their efforts at all costs and convert by force. Although this situation had the taste of failure, it didn’t break them. They listened to God’s will and headed towards those who received the Good News with joy.

At times we stubbornly stick to our own will and strive to achieve it above everything. Perhaps to rarely, or not at all, listening to what God is saying to us through things that happen. Contemplating ourselves we succumb to the failures that follow and don’t learn from them. This can give rise to anxiety and sadness because it doesn’t lead to God. Being too strongly glued to egoism we are closer to what is earthly and worldly than to what is of God.
