Thursday of Week 5 – 1 Kings 11:4-13; Psalm 106:2-3; Mark 7:24-30
Blessed are they who observe what is just, who at all times do what is right. (Psalm 106:3).
Many people see the commandments as restrictions, something that ties them down or burdens them with rules from on high. They think of them as obstacles to dodge and ignore. But here’s the truth: these commandments are actually like loving hints from our Heavenly Father designed to keep us safe and guide us to our own “promised land” – to true happiness and heaven. They don’t force anyone into a corner or snuff out our freedom; in fact, we’re free to dismiss them if we want. However, when we choose to walk away from their wisdom, we really shouldn’t be shocked when we bump into hard times or find ourselves feeling lost. Happiness, after all, is found in trusting God’s guidance. Just look at how He reassured the woman in the Gospel: “You may go home happy.” Let’s embrace those divine tips and allow them to light our path!
