Lent Week 5, Wednesday – Gen 17:3-9; John 18:51-59
Consider the Lord and his strength; constantly seek his face (Ps 105).
When God spoke to Abraham, He made a remarkable promise: countless descendants and divine protection. Abraham was destined for greatness, and from the very start, he placed his unwavering trust in God’s words. Even when those words seemed absurd by human standards, Abraham listened and embraced them daily, despite not always understanding their meaning.
Now, we must ask ourselves: Are we capable of trusting in that same way? Can we believe so wholeheartedly that, in our daily experiences, we can see God’s hand at work and hear the importance of His messages? Even when it feels like He is distant, can we still trust in His presence?
In every moment, God has something to teach us. Perhaps He is encouraging us to trust as Abraham did. Maybe He seeks to reveal our weaknesses or to open our eyes to the needs of those around us. While understanding God’s messages may not always be straightforward, remember that entering into a close relationship with Him allows us to recognise His presence more readily, just as Abraham did.
The journey may require effort, but it is absolutely worthwhile. The real question is, are we willing to take that step? Let’s embrace this opportunity to deepen our faith and trust, and see how God transforms our lives.
