The Feast of the Transfiguration – Dan 7:9-10,13-14; Psalm 96:1-2,5-6,9; Mark 9:2-10

The Transfiguration of Jesus. . . In shining garments, with Moses, and Elijah. And a voice from the cloud. I don’t know if I would like to witness such an event. After all, Peter and his companions were so frightened that they didn’t know what to say. But then. . .

Coming down the mountain

Then they came down the mountain with Jesus. And He explained to them what and how. The recent event became a treasure, strengthening the certainty that what they had chosen was good. That they had not followed myths, and dreams. After all, they had seen. After all, they had heard. And what’s more: Jesus had chosen them. He showed them, not others, that He really is God’s messenger. . .

It is beautiful to come down from the mountain with this certainty in your heart, that now everything will be different. The clash with earthly reality causes the glow of such moments to fade, but it still remains… It remains, doesn’t it?
