Easter Monday – Acts 2:14,22-23; Psalm 16; Matthew 28:8-15

I am taking you from the grave my people
We seldom live in days when everyone welcomes the truth as eagerly as honey on their lips. More often, we find ourselves squaring up against opposition – not only from false witnesses but also from persistent questions, nagging doubts, shifting ideologies, passing fashions, and, most poignantly, our own sins and human frailty.
Peter never resorts to the trendy tactics of denial. He does not issue press‑style statements, dissect rumours with clever rebuttals, condemn those who spread them, or rely on the force of authority. Instead, like so many other witnesses to the Good News, he holds fast to a single, simple conviction born of deep faith: “This Jesus whom God raised from the dead.”
Peter’s confidence stands on the rock of Resurrection truth. He knows that, although truth will always grapple with the powers of evil, darkness, sin and human perversity, the last word belongs to the Risen Lord—he is the Truth that sets us free. And this Truth needs no elaborate defence. It needs only our steadfast trust and our willingness to abide in Him.
Prayer
Risen Jesus,
You who appeared to women with a face illuminated by light and words of peace,
enter also – as on that morning – into my life
and conquer all my fears.
Give me courage in faith even when it seems that darkness overcomes light, even when voices of world drown out truth about Your love.
Send me like women on Easter morning,
to bring joy from your resurrection
to those who are prisoners of death,
to those who have lost hope.
Destroy in me every lie,
every complicit silence,
every temptation to flee from Your message.
Living Jesus,
be my truth,
my strength,
my peace.
