The Sacred Triduum – Holy Saturday
No celebration of Holy Mass on this day
For it is true: we do not often renounce faith, piety, religious culture, or good works all at once. More often, we choose what is easier, what seems useful, what promises an immediate reward. The surrender is quiet. It happens in the background. We pray less, doubt more openly, and slowly begin to prefer our own expectations to God’s will.
When Jesus asks who will betray Him, and the answer comes, “You say so”, we are invited to the same honesty. We must stand before the truth about ourselves and not flee from what is frail and sinful within us. Yet His gaze is not one of rejection, but of mercy. Listen to His voice. Remain in that look of love.
Tonight, make an examination of conscience. Ask yourself:
- What tempts me most to place something before God?
- Can I ask for God’s mercy with sincerity?
- Do I avoid prayer or good works because they cost me something?
Cry out for the treasure that does not fade, and let the Lord draw you back to Himself.
