Week 18, Year A – Is 55:1-3; Ps 144:8-9,15-18; Rom 8:35,37-39; Matthew 14:13-21
Jesus could have satisfied the crowd’s hunger with a single word. So, why the commotion? Why the distribution, the baskets, and the leftover fragments?
Looking at salvation history, it’s clear: God loves to invite us into His work. He doesn’t need our help, but He deeply desires it.
Imagine a toddler “helping” their dad fix a bike. The child likely gets in the way, making the job take twice as long! But a loving father doesn’t shoo them away. He lets them hold the spanner because the connection is more important than the clock. He wants to see that proud, beaming smile when the job is finished together.
Our Lord treats us with that same Fatherly heart. Our contributions—our “loaves and fish”—might seem tiny, but He asks for them anyway.
- Offer what you have: Even if it feels insignificant.
- Trust the multiplication: He takes our small “yes” and turns it into an abundance.
He isn’t looking for perfection; He’s looking for His children. Today, give Him your little, and watch Him do the lot.
