Monday of Week 1 of Lent – Lev 19:1-2,11-19; Matthew 25:31-46

Harmed
Or did I neglect to repair the harm and sincerely apologize? Because I decided that what happened some time ago doesn’t matter anymore?
Each act we perform – whether small or significant – holds profound meaning in our spiritual journey. When we assist those in need—the hungry, the thirsty, the stranger, the sick, or those in prison—we encounter Christ Himself. This reflection invites us to consider our daily choices.
Did I take the time to help a sick neighbour with their shopping? In doing so, I offered those groceries to God. Or perhaps I shirked my responsibilities at work, inadvertently placing a burden on my colleagues—contributing to a challenge that Christ experienced through me. On the flip side, did I extend a warm greeting to my neighbour, knowing that Christ smiled through this simple act of kindness?
Let’s not overlook the moments that call for reflection and repair. If I’ve caused harm or neglected someone’s feelings, my failure to apologise does not erase the hurt. Each moment is an invitation to live out our faith with sincerity and compassion.
The Gospel reminds us that our interactions reflect our relationship with Christ. Let’s strive to live in a way that honours the divine in each person we encounter, recognising that every action is a chance to build up the Kingdom of God here and now.
