Lent – After Ash Wednesday – Friday – Is 58:1-9; Psalm 50:3-6,18-19; Matthew 9:14-15
Contradictions, right? Isaiah talks about the Servant who “will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets,” yet here we are with all this shouting and clamouring. It’s a bit mind-boggling, especially when we admire the quiet souls and humble hearts around us. So, what’s with the noise? Maybe it’s like being speechless, like stones crying out…
“Share your bread with the hungry, bring the homeless into your home, clothe the naked, and don’t turn your back on your own.” That’s the real silent shout of those who live quietly and kindly. Think about it—when Jesus gave up His spirit, it was a heart-wrenching cry without any fuss or unnecessary chatter, just a deep commitment to action.
He heard the call of those often overlooked, the very ones He said, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these, you did for Me.” So, maybe the shouting isn’t always about noise, but about the actions of our hearts. It’s in rolling up our sleeves and showing love, where the true essence of faith lies.
