You may feel surprised. Even disappointed. Listen? Love? This is terribly imprecise. And how to complete it?
The law. The Commandments. More instructions. There were so many of them that the problem arose which ones were more important. A lawyer asks Jesus a question. . .
Listen, Israel, the Lord our God is the only Lord. These are the words of a key prayer, a specific declaration of faith of Israel. And at the same time a call: Listen. Listen. Listen. . .
And then comes another word: Love. God – with your whole being, everything that constitutes you. People – as yourself. Love. Love. Love…
You may feel surprised. Even disappointed. Listen? Love? This is terribly imprecise. And how to complete it? When will I be able to say that I have completed it? How far should I listen? How far can I go with love? What can I leave for myself?
God doesn’t set a target. He sets an example himself. And… He loves a cheerful giver.
It’s up to me how far I will follow Him.
