Monday of Week 15 – Is 1:10-17; Matthew 10:34-11:1
From time to time, the Holy Spirit gently invites us to pause and examine the heart behind our devotion. Why do we engage in our beautiful Catholic practices?
Let us courageously ask ourselves:
Is it truly for God? Or are my prayers merely habits and cultural traditions?
Is it transactional? Am I trying to “earn” His care as a guarantee of earthly happiness?
Is it for human respect? Do I attend Mass out of fear of what my family or neighbours might think?
It is naturally human to struggle with doing things exclusively for the Lord. Yet, God desires a profound, authentic relationship with you. In the Scriptures, He once warned the Israelites about empty devotion:
“When you spread out your hands, I will hide my eyes from you; even though you make many prayers, I will not listen.” (Isaiah 1:15)
Do not let these words discourage you; let them awaken you! Christ is calling you beyond simply going through the motions. You do not need to earn His love – you already have it completely. Today, step into the joyful freedom of worshiping Him simply because He is good. Give Him your whole heart!
