Advent, 21 December – SoS 2:8-14; Luke 1:39-45

Say, Amen
Like Mary

Earlier “you are blessed between women and the fruit of your womb is blessed.” Then “blessed is she who believed that the promise made her by the Lord would be fulfilled” as though Elizabeth was speaking to someone else . . . to us? Maybe. Or perhaps it’s also an indication that anyone who trusts God’s words is blessed?

What? Oh, “Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.” Or “if anyone wants to be the first, let them be the last of all and the servant of everyone.” It’s not possible is it? It’s a utopia isn’t it? The blessed fruits of our faith will not appear if we don’t try.
