Thursday of 4th Week of Lent – Ex 32:7-14; John 5:31-47

Today Jesus reproaches each of us bitterly: You refuse to come to me for life. We so easily accept people from nowhere, we so easily hail them as messiahs, the saviours of our emotions, our culture, our nation, our faith. We fall in love so easily and admire those who will admire us in return. Meanwhile, Jesus, marginalised, ridiculed, forgotten – He is the only one who has the power to save what is divine in us. He is the only one who has the power to give us the words of eternal life that come from His Father.

Lord Jesus Christ, into Your hands I entrust everything I am and everything I have, I entrust my hands and my heart to You. I want to serve You and love You only. You live and reign forever and ever. Amen.
