Fifth Friday of Easter – Acts 15: 22-31; Ps 57; John 15:12-17
“You are my friends if you do what I command you.”
Imagine the heartbeat of God calling you friend. It is a title more precious than any earthly honour, yet we often mistake the trappings of faith for the intimacy of His heart.
You are not necessarily a friend of Jesus because you hold a high office in the Church or labour in visible, prestigious works. You are not His friend simply because you defend the faith with sharp wit on a digital screen. These things, though they may be good, can become hollow echoes if they lack the one thing necessary: a surrendered soul.
To be a friend of Christ is to be in rhythm with His own Sacred Heart. It is the quiet, radical choice to let His will become your own. His command is not a burden; it is a bridge to His presence. And that command is simple, yet it demands everything: “Love one another.”
True friendship with the Master is found in the hidden act of mercy and the silent sacrifice. Today, stop striving for recognition and start striving for Him. Let your life be a love letter written in the ink of obedience.
