Birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary – Mi 5:1-4; Matthew 1:18-23
This is no ordinary list of names. It is the story of God entering real human history — concrete, messy, and sometimes deeply tangled lives. We see generations marked by faithfulness and failure, moments of great light and painful fracture. Yet all of it leads to one person: Jesus Christ.
God does not begin with perfect people. In the Lord’s genealogy are difficult and even embarrassing stories, the very ones many would prefer to hide. And yet from this wounded history the Saviour is born. What hope this gives us: your life, too, is not ruled out because of the past.
God speaks to you as He spoke to Joseph: “Do not be afraid.” So often fear is the real obstacle — fear that I will not cope, that I am not enough, that holiness is for someone else. But this is not the story of human perfection. It is the story of God’s faithful presence.
Today I will pray: “Ah, I am sorry for my sins solely because I love You.”
Prayer
We greet you, O Mary, chosen and spotless, who shone into the dark night of sin. At your feet we bow in love, asking you to help Christ be born ever more deeply within our souls, so that we may live always united to His most loving Heart.
