Friday of Week 14 – Is 6:1-8; Psalm 92(93):1-2; Matthew 10:24-33
In our spiritual lives, it is easy to mistake the familiar for the essential. We can cling so tightly to childhood prayers or long-held customs that our faith, meant to be a vibrant pilgrimage, risks becoming stagnation. Our beloved traditions are beautiful gifts, but they are meant to be windows to God, not walls that block His new invitations.
Let’s not be scandalized when the Holy Spirit speaks in new ways. The Lord is not confined to the past; He constantly pours the new wine of His grace into the world. Our core faith – the Covenant, the Commandments, the Creed – is the unshakeable foundation. Upon this rock, we are given the freedom and courage to receive the fresh work of God in our lives.
Let’s ask for hearts that are like new wineskins: strong in faith, yet flexible and open, ready to be filled with the joy of the Gospel today. God is ever-ancient, yet ever-new, and He longs to do a new thing in us.
