I saw you

Feast of Saint Bartholomew, Apostle – Revelation 21:9b-14; Ps 144: 10-13,17-18; John 1:45-51

What exactly happened under that fig tree? That beautiful moment remains a profound mystery between Jesus and Bartholomew. Imagine the sheer astonishment of the bystanders, glancing back and forth between the Saviour and His new friend!

When Jesus says, “I saw you,” He reveals something incredible about our Heavenly Father. Long before we even realise it, God sees us. Throughout salvation history, He saw:

• Adam hiding in the garden
  
• The misery of His people in Egypt
  
• Hannah’s bitter weeping
  
• The secret depths of David’s heart
  

But here’s the best part: God doesn’t watch us like a strict security guard waiting to catch us out. Yes, our sins grieve Him, but His gaze is pure, redeeming love. It’s a gaze that invites us to stop looking backward at our past and start looking forward to our glorious future as the Church, the Bride of the Lamb.

Whenever you feel unnoticed, remember this: Jesus sees you right where you are. And only His loving “I saw you” has the power to transform your life into His magnificent promise: “You shall see.”
