Wednesday of Week 8 – 1 Peter 1:18-25; Mark 10:32-45
The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many (Mark 10:45).
In today’s fiercely competitive world, “service” and “sacrifice” rarely build a worldly career. Society tempts us with visions of our own greatness, whispering that merely being “respectable” or “decent” is enough. Yet, our souls know this empty pursuit leads to a dead end.
Christ calls us to something breathtakingly beautiful. Our hardships are not pointless struggles; they are the very path to transforming our worldly minds into the radiant mentality of the Gospel.
We have been bought at a staggering price, redeemed from the heavy chains of sin by the Precious Blood of Jesus Christ. His ultimate sacrifice has the divine power to:
Cleanse our deepest stains
Heal our brokenness
Strengthen our weary souls
How do we respond to such an overwhelming gift of salvation? By pouring out active, self-giving love to our neighbours.
Lord Jesus, I confess how hard it is to love enough to serve everyone. Touch my heart. Draw me so closely to Your example that I may finally mature into a life of joyful sacrifice. Amen.
