Monday of Week 14 – Hos 2:16,17b-18,21-22; Ps 144:2-9; Matthew 9:18-26
Time is the very lifeblood of our existence. When it flows without purpose, it becomes a spiritual haemorrhage, draining us of the vitality God intends for us. We lose this priceless, unrepeatable gift through mindless scrolling, empty gossip, and constant complaint.
This is more than waste; it is a slow, spiritual death. To reduce our existence to the pursuit of a full stomach and fleeting pleasure is to suffocate our divine calling. As Scripture warns:
People who have wealth but lack understanding are like the beasts that perish. (Psalm 49:20)
The Gospel challenges us with two figures: the haemorrhaging woman and the synagogue official. We must ask ourselves: Is my life flowing away meaninglessly like her blood? When faced with spiritual death – in ourselves or others – do we have the faith of the official to approach Jesus and plead for the miracle of restoration?
Lord, touch our lives with Your saving power. Heal the haemorrhages of our wasted time. Give us the unwavering faith of the official, who knew that even in the face of death, You are the Lord and Giver of Life. Amen.
