Feast of the dedication of the Cathedral – 1 Kings 8:22-23,27-30; Matthew 16:13-19
‘Listen to the plea of your servant and of your people Israel, when they pray towards this place’. (1 Kings 8:30)
Solomon’s ancient prayer for the Temple still resonates with us today. Our churches are so much more than buildings; they are sacred spaces where Heaven touches Earth. Here, in the quiet, we find Christ Himself, truly present in the Blessed Sacrament, waiting for us.
It’s in this holy silence that He looks at us and asks the most important question: “But who do you say that I am?”
This isn’t a test with an answer based on how we feel that day. It’s an invitation to look deep within our hearts. In His presence, we can let go of our striving and simply be. We can allow our souls to whisper back the truth we long to live by: “You are my Lord, my shepherd. With You, I lack nothing.”
Lord, lead me to the quiet of Your house. In Your presence, refresh my soul and remind me that You alone are enough. I need You.
