Thursday of 3rd Week of Lent – Jer 7:23-28; Ps 94:1-2,6-9; Luke 11:14-23
Today’s Word that the Lord addresses to me shows me that I still don’t listen, that I still spurn His Word. I turn my back on Him and choose other idols. I don’t want Him to be my Lord, I don’t want to be a sheep in His hand.
When I don’t want to forgive those who have wronged me, I turn away from God, who said: “seventy times seven times – always – forgive” (cf. Mt 18:21-22).
When I choose only what is convenient and pleasant for me, I turn away from God, who said: “Whoever does not carry his cross and follow me cannot be my disciple” (see Luke 14:27).
When I am annoyed by a lack of attention and appreciation, I turn away from God, who said: “So you also, when you have done all that is commanded you, say, ‘We are unworthy servants; we have only done what was our duty.’” (see Luke 17:10).
When I reject the teachings of the Church, I turn away from God, who said: “Whoever rejects you rejects me” (see Luke 10:16).
When . . .
When I start to deny and reject God’s words, I enter the path of accusing God, attributing to Him bad intentions towards us or severity and a lack of love. I equate Him with a devil.
How can I respond to the Word?
I will apologize for every time I turn away from His words and question their wisdom and goodness.
I will ask for the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that I can accept the word of God and truly live it every day.
