Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus – Deuteronomy 7:6-11; Psalm 103; 1 Jn 4:7-16; Matthew 11:25-30
Ever feel like the world is just too loud or demanding? Jesus offers a different rhythm. He invites us: “Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart” (Mt 11:29).
Think about that. The Creator of the universe describes His own heart as “humble.” He is the Good Shepherd whose heart is a burning furnace of love – not a fire that consumes, but one that warms. Even when we’ve strayed, offended, or walked away, His love remains a constant, unchanging “yes” to our “maybe.”
We see this love through beautiful traditions like the Adoration or First Fridays. These aren’t just old-school rituals; they are invitations to sit with a Friend. They help us peel back the layers of our busy lives to see God’s true face: a Father who throws a party every time we come home.
How to respond today:
Pause: Give Him five minutes of silence.
Surrender: Hand over one specific worry to His Sacred Heart.
Trust: Simply whisper, “Jesus, make my heart like yours.”
He isn’t asking for perfection – just your heart in exchange for His.
