Thursday of Week 17 – Jeremiah 18:1-6; Psalm 145:2-6; Matthew 13:47-53
The Kingdom of God is like a net cast into the sea, gathering up everything it meets. Jesus draws us all into His net without prejudice – the wounded, the lost, the fervent and the faltering. No one is indifferent to God.
Inside each of us, just as in that net, good sits alongside weakness, desires next to fear, faith tangled with doubt. We often try to tidy it all, cast out the messy bits, or justify everything so conscience won’t reproach us. Yet Jesus tells us God Himself will sort it at the end of time. What freedom! This lifts the paralysing ideal of perfection that so often drags us down.
Ask Jesus to teach you how to draw out every good thing from your heart.
We pray to God our Father:
- that children be loved by their families
- that spouses support one another
- that the abandoned experience His presence
Lord Jesus Christ, mindful of Your words—“Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me”—we offer You all the good shared with our neighbour in need. May our deeds be enlivened by love for You in the poor. Amen.
